Eaton RESA Partners with Lansing Schools and Ingham Health Department to Help Teen Parents
Eaton RESA’s Prevention Program Services partners with the Lansing School District and the Ingham County Health Department beginning in January 2014.
Eaton RESA’s Prevention Program Services partners with the Lansing School District and the Ingham County Health Department beginning in January 2014. This collaboration was awarded the Michigan Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (MI-APPP) Grant. This is a four year grant which is funded through the Michigan Department of Community Health. The goal of the grant is to improve the educational, health, and social outcomes for pregnant and parenting teens, males and females, ages 15 through 19, in the City of Lansing.
The MI-APPP Grant will fund the Adolescent Family Life Program-Positive Youth Development, an evidence-informed strength-based case management program designed for pregnant and parenting teens. This program will work with Lansing School District school counselors and homebound teachers, as well as the Ingham County Health Department School-Based Health Centers, home visiting support services, Women's Health Center, and other community resources to create a system of care for pregnant and parenting teen students. An integrated system of care will improve educational, health, and social outcomes for existing pregnant and parenting teens and will also work at reducing repeat teen pregnancies.
